Debitus Silver Stain - 20% Silver Sulphide
Made in collaboration with the Research Laboratory of the Historic Monument Department of French Government.
Grisaille is one of the oldest and most widely used vitreous paint applied for the production of stained glass panels and Debitus is one of the most renowned brands whose grisailles are frequently used in stained-glass window restoration.
Stains are obtained with is a chemical reaction in the glass, during firing. Glass becomes colored on surface but remains transparent. The transmitted light is coloured.
Silver stain and amber
Composition :
Silver chloride and sulphide in red ocher.
Application :
Distilled water; the red ocher is removed after firing.
Firing :
Minimum 580°C, depending on the result desired.
The higher the temperature / the longer the soak time, the deeper the silver stain colour.
Aspect :
From light yellow to amber, depending on the products used and the glass it is used on.
